First off let us make something a little clear. When we speak about the best diet for quick weight loss, if by weight loss we are talking about the loss of body fat and the preservation of lean tissue, i.e. muscle mass then we must be careful not to make our ‘fat loss’ to quick. We should be aiming at about two pounds of fat a week and should not try to exceed that. But when we think about it, two pounds of pure body fat loss is really good, especially when you consider that muscle weighs more than fat.
You see your body when it comes to managing the biochemistry of well, your body is a lot smarter than you and you quite simply cannot fool it. If you try to go onto some fasting or crash diet your body is going to see this as a threat and the first thing it will do is lower your metabolism and preserve your energy stores i.e. your fat as best it can. It does this to combat the dangerous fasting period it thinks you are facing and wants to preserve your life. This will leave you feeling tired, in a rotten mood and suddenly you will find that no one wants to be around you because you are so difficult to be around. When you do begin to gorge again most of that food will be stored as fat because your metabolism is so low and your body thinks food resources are still low. It will think you have just gotten lucky but will still want to play it safe by very slowly raising metabolic levels.
The best diet for quick weight loss, reasonably quick anyway is to eat moderately to well but to focus on healthy foods such as vegetables and fruit, as fresh as possible. Make whole grains part of your intake and make sure they are low glycemic foods. Low glycemic simply means that it takes a long time to break the food down in the body. Avoid simple sugars and saturated fats like the plaque. Saturated fats are good for nothing but storage and simple sugars stimulate the release of insulin to balance out blood sugar levels, which will lead to said sugars being stored as fat. However the eating of low glycemic foods has the opposite effect of keeping blood sugar levels stable as well as stimulating the release of the hormone glucagon, the fat burner’s best friend. Glucagon is the hormone that tells the body to burn fat for fuel. Another good way to stimulate glucagon’s release is with exercise.
